Kady McDermott, a 2016 Love Island contestant, has sensationally claimed Amber Davies “faked her feelings” towards Kem Cetinay to boost her career
Love Island’s Kady McDermott lashes out at Amber Davies and says her feelings for Kem Cetinay weren’t genuine
Amber has hit back at Kady for being “jealous” of her success after she badmouthed her on Twitter when she was in the villa.
Kady said: “I wasn’t surprised to hear that Amber and Kem had split. Amber is not as genuine as Kem. I wasn’t impressed by her on the show.
“I’ve never met Amber – and I don’t plan on meeting her either. She has blocked me on Twitter actually. People forget it was my series that got the ratings up. We made the show big.”
But now pals close to Amber have revealed that she felt forced to leave a film premiere early last year after feeling intimidated by Kady.
The sun revealed that a source close to Amber said: “They have never even met but Kady seems to be insanely jealous of Amber.
“Kady sat and glared at Amber at a film premiere last year" – she felt so uncomfortable that she left early.
“Her saying that Amber’s feelings towards Kem aren’t genuine is really hurtful – especially coming from someone who doesn’t know and has never met either of them."
“She is obviously struggling with becoming irrelevant now – Kady needs to get back in her box.”
Amber has previously claimed that she spoke to Kady before she went onto the show, she gave her advice and was looking forward for them to become friends once the show was over.
But Amber was left “devastated” when Kady tweeted that her and Kem “won’t last five minutes” so she blocked the former Islander on Twitter.
The Sun revealed that a source close to Amber added: “Kady started slagging Amber off at every opportunity."
“Amber was devastated – she was a huge fan of Kady’s and she had even given her advice before she went on the show."
“She blocked Kady in August because she didn’t want someone that was so two-faced like that in her life.”
Amber and Kem split after just 132 days following their win on the show, despite saying they might wed.
Kady and Scott Thomas also ended their relationship last year after meeting on the show.
The 2016 pair were together for over a year and lived together before deciding to go separate ways.
On Wednesday Amber admitted she began drinking heavily to deal with the split, using alcohol as a ‘coping mechanism’. She has however managed to put the brakes on for Dry January which she is taking part in along with Lorraine Kelly.
During her appearance on ITV's Lorraine on Wednesday, the 21-year-old Welsh beauty said there was 'unfinished business' with her ex, yet hinted she didn't believe that Kem and Scarlett Moffatt were 'just friends'.
Amber admitted she was drinking too much before Christmas, explaining: 'I definitely used alcohol as a coping mechanism. You drink, let your hair down, have fun. I should have powered through.'
Revealing she was now doing 'dry January', she said: 'I'm only 10 days in, I feel so refreshed and healthy.
'When I drink, the next day I'm moping around, feeling sorry for myself. Now I'm up in the monring, I've got goals, I've got talks, I'm a lot happier in myself!'
Despite saying their relationship had 'fizzled out' due to their incompatible schedules and not spending enough time with one another, Amber hinted she may reconsider things in future.
